This quote is attributed to the famous Negro League baseball player Satchel Paige.
This may seem out of place in a hardware blog but the quote is is analogous to what is going on in the bathroom fixture and cabinet hardware markets. Satin Nickel finishes have been the favorite finish for kitchen fixtures and hardware for many years. It currently enjoys a market share of more than 50% but the dark bronze finishes are growing faster and may surpass them in the future. You can see the reason when you look at kitchen design books and magazines or visit a kitchen showroom or a Parade of Homes. Dark finishes abound and very little satin nickel is shown. While these finishes look great they may not be what you like.
Don't let the designers and interior decotators talk you into getting a finish you don't like - the decision is yours and if you like satin nickel, or even polished brass, you should get it - it's your house, your kitchen, your style and your money.
