Contemporary Cabinet Hardware - Always In Style
Posted by John on 1/21/2011
Contemporary style encompasses a wide range of styles developed in the latter half of the 20th century. Pieces feature softened and rounded lines as opposed to the stark lines seen in modern design. Interiors contain neutral elements and bold color, and they focus on the basics of line, shape and form.
Contemporary cabinet hardware is most often used in contemporary styled kitchens. These include sleek lines, bold colors and simplicity. You can also use contemporary hardware in more traditional kitchens that use darker wood like cherry or hickory. In this case, the hardware will stand out and look like the "jewelry of your kitchen".
Contemporary designed cabinet hardware is often used in a single design family (like Euro-Contemporary or American Diner) but there are no rules that say you can't mix and match different contemporary designs. In fact, you can even mix contemporary with other styles like
Transitional, Whimsical or even
Traditional (if you dare!!). The point, is that your style is your style, and you are the person to decide what you want your kitchen and home to look like.
